Founder · General Manager
Founder of Sunbird Manufacturing in the US and Chengdu Beiji Precision Machinery in China. Ex-Boeing engineer with 45 years in aerospace and industrial machining — 30 of those on aviation parts that cannot fail.
As an owner-operator, Ed works between the shops in China and the US, on the floor every day, refining processes and mentoring the crew. The shops deliver prototypes in days and production that hits specs: custom parts for automotive, data centers (cooling components and fittings), and robotics (frames and assemblies).
Chengdu capacity includes up to 5-axis mills, conventional CNC and Swiss lathes, welding, 3D printing, plating, and rubber-to-metal bonding — one-offs to multi-thousand unit runs, with accuracies down to 0.005 mm. American-run overseas, built for straight-up reliability.

CNC machining and milling
Vertical and gantry mills up to 3.0 × 2.3 × 0.8 m. 3-axis, 4-axis, and 3+2 turntable. Fanuc and Mitsubishi.
CNC lathes to Ø400 × 500 mm. Gang-tool and 5-axis Swiss to Ø26 mm for fittings and small fluid hardware.
Wire EDM (0.4 × 0.4 m), 5-ton horizontal broach (1.3 m stroke), programmable saws to Ø300 mm.
Hexagon CMM 2.1 × 1.0 × 0.8 m with Renishaw 5-axis probe. Optical projectors and TESA-HITE gauges.
